The terms above-ground cremation niche and columbarium cremation niche refer to the same thing. These are above-ground, dry granite structures where cremation urns are placed in individual single niches or companion double niches. They have a granite, inscribable door for permanent memorialization with family name, first name, birth and death dates. - Can I visit the gravesite of a loved one?
Yes, the cemetery is open to visitors daily. We ask that visitors respect the serenity of the grounds and other families who may be grieving. - Is Green Ridge Cemetery affiliated with any specific religious organization?
Green Ridge Cemetery is a non-denominational cemetery, welcoming individuals of all faiths and backgrounds. - Are there any specific rules for placing flowers or decorations on graves?
Live plants are permitted within one foot of the primary marker on the grave. Thorn-like plants, plantings in the middle of the grave, artificial decorations such as balloons, toys, shepherd hooks, solar lights or other artifacts are not allowed and will be removed and disposed of by cemetery staff. - How can I locate a specific gravesite?

With the first burial taking place in 1836, Green Ridge Cemetery is one of Wisconsin’s oldest historic burial grounds and the first cemetery in Kenosha. The cemetery is the final resting place of many notable local, state and national figures. In fact, the southern portion was the site of the Civil War training ground for Camp Harvey. Though recognized for its historical significance, the cemetery is also cherished for its beautiful landscape.
